Dawg vent

It hit me big-time on Thursday night. It was when the G-Day (E$PN) boys were in my home state for Lucifer's (ultimately) successful return to the college ranks. It was when they dedicated a highlight package and ensuing discussion to DJ and the Dawgs. All the uncomfortableness, the anxiety, the (dare I say?) doubt I felt regarding our new starting QB hit me in the pit of my stomach when I saw it in black and red up there on my very own TV screen. On top of that, C0rs0 picked us enthusiatically! I can't give too much credit to a guy known more for wearing fuzzy heads each week than for his professional career(s). All of the journalistic murmurs of a #13 vs. a #18, and the "this is going to me more of a game than people think," hit me in that seminal moment.

In the ensuing 48 hours, I was lucky to be distracted by some on-line gaming, work, score study, and the LYW. But from T-minus 8 minutes (when they went live to Athens) onward, I was unable to sit down or stop my palms from sweating. My senses were both heightened and dulled. I couldn't have the TV loud enough, and when asked something by the LYW, I just became irritated and annoyed. I paced. I put my hat on and off my head about 500 times. I was just plain antsy.

Well, that first drive and especially the first PASSING touchdown helped to ease the anxiety. Ultimately, so did the final score. GO DAWGS!

I am envious of those who have a cluster of the Bulldog Nation near them. We did last year. But thanks to graduations and other successes, a majority of the Brew City Bulldog Club has moved elsewhere. Though technology (and about $7 a month) can allow me to watch the game and hear Munson's call in not-quite-simul-cast, it's not the same as being with a large group of Dawgs fans, much less being one of the lucky 92K at Sanford.

I can't think of an ending, so I'll just stop. Let's go get 'em again on Saturday.
